Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. For his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in his law doth he meditate day and night. -Psalm 1:1,2
12.14.2007 Yes I know it's been long since I last blogged. Ok very very long.
![]() Hello Everyone! Here are some photos from my trip to UK and Paris! (haha looks so optimistic.) ![]() A bridge outside Warwick Castle. ![]() John Wesley's prayer room. He prayed here before he woke up everyday. I wish I was like him! ![]() From on top of the cathedral. (with the famous monsters) ![]() Notre Dame Detailing.. ![]() A road leading into the mist. I took this while on a high-speed train. (I really don't know how I did that.) ![]() Natural History Museum! ![]() From inside the Louvre! --------------------------------- Blogger is so irritating, the pictures load so slow. I may post more another time. When I try it takes minutes for a single photo. Oh well.. Anyway after that trip, we had an interesting batam one-day trip with auntie susan and all.. we learnt some things about forbearance. Definitely. And more about fellow people. Fellow Christians. As well as about fellowship. And there was more. The CSS Camp - as some people term it, was extremely fruitful (extremely on the first day (or should I say night) when we stayed up - no sleep whatsoever - to fellowship, good, sound fellowship on topics such as assurance of salvation..). Yes, I learnt more in one night than I probably have in one day (: Thank God for that! After that, we were back to school after christmas and all. Oh yeah Enzhao and I had a great time chionging our chinese books. Of which enzhao hasn't finished one.. (work harder!) Yes. I've had a pretty interesting time in school. The latest heart attack being 7pm just now when I thought I lost my watch. (Okay this might sound dumb.) Basically I was playing my cello after school during the long break (around 3hrs and 45mins) and I took out my watch and left it on the chair. I didn't remember what I did to it. But i thought i left it in my bag. So I went for rehearsal and only after it I remembered that my watch wasn;t on my hand. So laggy huh. So i searched my bag and I couldn't find it. Thing is I was in 3 classrooms before I left for CCA because the cleaning lady was chasing me out of every classroom I entered. For cleaning purposes. Except she wasnt so polite. Anyway, after rehearsal Enzhao was so kind to come with me to look for the missing watch. After many minutes of tiring searching, we found nothing. So I went back. Totally demoralised. Until I searched my bag again. I said a little prayer on the way back which turned out to make a whole world of difference. I prayed that I would find it before I reached home. Well, God's answer was "yes" because I found it in my bag. The only person who could have orchestrated all that was God himself. Really. Everything just fell into place to tell me one thing: He has one huge plan for you, and all you need to do is trust in Him and Him alone! Right. So that was my interesting experience today. As with other days. School is alright I guess. Sec2 still feels small, yet alittle bit older. Haha. Rather hard to describe. It's more fun I suppose, compared to sec1. It's in the exploring stage now, instead of the previously foundational stage. Oh yeah, enzhao had an interesting assesment with Mr Sze. First time he actually asked if someone wanted to pass or fail! Skilled right! Geography was fun today! We saw how different people eat in different places consume food. Which is interesting. Americans eat lots of carbs and drink alot of beverages. Germans eat alot of meat and drink alot of wine and beer. Japanese use alot of condiments (Sauces!). And so on.. Haha. I hope that's enough to pacify you readers for now. Till next time! john

One of my favourite piano concertos! And my favourite Russian pianist. Can't find stuff like that all the time. Title: Concerto No.2 -- Composer: Rachmaninov -- Pianist: Evgeny Kissin -- Orchestra: BBC Symphony - Sir Andrew Davis All four movements of Schumann's Piano Quintet in Eb. Pure composing genius, I say. And Maisky's playing! Title: Quintet for Piano and Strings in E flat Major -- Composer: Schumann -- Performers: Violins: Renaud Capuçon, Sayaka Shoji; Viola: Lars Anders Tomter; Cello: Mischa Maisky Another one of my favourite piano concertos! And Yundi Li does it pretty well. Title: Piano Concerto No. 1 -- Composer: Chopin -- Pianist: Yundi Li My favourite violin concerto with David Oistrakh - I think he plays this piece better than Heifetz although Heifetz is superior technically. It's more soulful. Actually my fav. is the Hilary Hahn recording but they didnt give the HTML code. So sad. Title: Violin Concerto -- Composer: Sibelius -- Violinist: David Oistrakh The best cellist ever plays one of the nicest cello works ever written. Brilliant! Title: Cello Concerto in E Minor -- Composer: Elgar -- Cellist: Jacqueline Du Pre The Polonaise-Fantasie by Chopin. I'm playing this. Apparently I am suited to play this because of my style. That's what my teacher said. Go figure. It's beautiful anyway. Title: Polonaise-Fantasie -- Composer: Chopin -- Pianist: Spencer Myers I'm playing this too. Very Schumann-ish, which is nice. But still Chopin. Title: Ballade No. 2 -- Composer: Chopin -- Pianist: Zimerman One of my favourite violin pieces by the best violinist ever! Title: Introduction and Rondo Capriccio -- Composer: Saint-Saens -- Violinist: Jascha Heifetz |
