Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. For his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in his law doth he meditate day and night. -Psalm 1:1,2

The Serpent in My BedI picked my way across the room, Turned on the lights, Then I stepped on a Warm, Smooth, Pulsing, Breathing, Object. Jem? What does a snake feel like? Sort of rough, Cold, Dusty, Why? I think there’s one under the bed. Can you come look? Are you bein’ funny? He opened the door. You’d better get on the bed. He poked under the bed with the broom he retrieved. Poke. Poke. Poke. Grunt. Grunt? Do snakes grunt? It ain’t a snake, It’s somebody. Something was emerging. Slowly, we felt the tension rising - Then we saw it. Dill. I was speechless. The Real BooHe didn’t seem very tall at all His arms were folded ‘cross his chest His hands were sickly white, no less His khaki pants were stained with sand His denim shirt was torn and rent His cheeks were thin to hollowness His eyes so grey, so colourless But inside him was a different story, He wasn’t really all that gloomy His lips parted into a timid smile I returned that gesture, sweet and mild 3.26.2008
Mrs DuboseMany people underestimate the Real powers of the human mind Shown in this seemingly fragile soul, Dying, yet alive, it is an Understatement, actually, to say she is Brave, Overcoming morphine addiction, she is Strong as a bull Even in her last days Flick. Of a guy named Boo Who lived next door And was a horrible brute He described him as someone Six-and-a-half feet tall, Who dined on creatures Furry and small His hands were blood-stained And a long jagged scar Ran across his face, Like lightning from afar What teeth he had Were yellow and rotten He was locked up And thoroughly forgotten And Dill my friend said “Let’s make him come out – His countenance alone Is a downright insult!”
Accepted Dill’s dare To touch the Radley’s wall Then get out of there He gave it a shot, Pride taking hold But inside he knew He wasn’t that bold His eyes darted about In fear and apprehension Tension built up, So did beads of perspiration. He went for the plunge, Running with all his might, His arms wildly flailing, Oh! What a sight! Unsure of the consequence Hoping God would intervene He returned to the gate, Anything but serene He headed back home To the porch familiar, Dill and I right behind him, Feeling quite queer Panting and out of breath We turned back to look The droopy, sick house Looking as it should But as we stared down the street We saw a shutter move, Flick. And the house was still. 3.16.2008
Do You Love Him? Jesus humbly left his glory In his home up above To live a life perfectly For his creatures, out of love Then he conquered death and sin Do you love Him? Do you love Him? As he lived His life for you As he lived His life for you The Lord looks out for the sparrow And he watches you and me He loves the world without question With a love so deep and free On the cross He shed his blood for you Then he conquered death and sin Do you love Him? Do you love Him? As he gave His life for you As he gave His life for you He beat the foe in all fairness Sin and death hit by the blow Satan’s defence overpowered By God’s strength and might unknown On the cross He shed his blood for you Then he conquered death and sin Do you love Him? Do you love Him? As he rose again for you As he rose again for you

One of my favourite piano concertos! And my favourite Russian pianist. Can't find stuff like that all the time. Title: Concerto No.2 -- Composer: Rachmaninov -- Pianist: Evgeny Kissin -- Orchestra: BBC Symphony - Sir Andrew Davis All four movements of Schumann's Piano Quintet in Eb. Pure composing genius, I say. And Maisky's playing! Title: Quintet for Piano and Strings in E flat Major -- Composer: Schumann -- Performers: Violins: Renaud Capuçon, Sayaka Shoji; Viola: Lars Anders Tomter; Cello: Mischa Maisky Another one of my favourite piano concertos! And Yundi Li does it pretty well. Title: Piano Concerto No. 1 -- Composer: Chopin -- Pianist: Yundi Li My favourite violin concerto with David Oistrakh - I think he plays this piece better than Heifetz although Heifetz is superior technically. It's more soulful. Actually my fav. is the Hilary Hahn recording but they didnt give the HTML code. So sad. Title: Violin Concerto -- Composer: Sibelius -- Violinist: David Oistrakh The best cellist ever plays one of the nicest cello works ever written. Brilliant! Title: Cello Concerto in E Minor -- Composer: Elgar -- Cellist: Jacqueline Du Pre The Polonaise-Fantasie by Chopin. I'm playing this. Apparently I am suited to play this because of my style. That's what my teacher said. Go figure. It's beautiful anyway. Title: Polonaise-Fantasie -- Composer: Chopin -- Pianist: Spencer Myers I'm playing this too. Very Schumann-ish, which is nice. But still Chopin. Title: Ballade No. 2 -- Composer: Chopin -- Pianist: Zimerman One of my favourite violin pieces by the best violinist ever! Title: Introduction and Rondo Capriccio -- Composer: Saint-Saens -- Violinist: Jascha Heifetz |
